A. Examination of Conscience
Recall your sins. Calmly and honestly ask yourself what you have done with full knowledge and full consent against God and the Church’s commandments. Be truly sorry for your sins.
B. Confession
“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been (state the number of months or years) since my last confession.” Say your sins and and conclude by saying, "I am sorry for these and all the sins of my past life."
C. Absolution
Listen to the words of the priest as he gives you your penance and absolution-the sacramental forgiveness of the Church through the ordained priest. You may say the act of contrition.
D. Penance
Give thanks to God for his mercy and grace. Say your penance and resolve to fight the temptation of sin and resolve to grow in holiness.
