Sacraments of Initiation

Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are called the sacraments of initiation. Through these sacraments we become members of the Catholic Church, a community of Spirit-filled people who witness Christ’s love in the word.

Baptism

The Rite of Baptism is the first step in the initiation of a Catholic. It is the gateway to the Holy Spirit and for all other sacraments. Our community welcomes our new family members. At the celebration of Baptism, we witness the love, dedication and commitment of the parents and godparents. We offer monthly baptism preparation classes for the parents and godparents. The class is to help you understand the sacrament, the process, the liturgy, and the covenant you are entering into with God.

Confirmation

As one of the sacraments of initiation, Confirmation impresses the candidates with a special character. Through this sacrament the candidates are enriched by the gift of the Holy Spirit, are bound more perfectly to the Church, and are strengthened in faith. They are enabled to witness more courageously to Christ and to spread and defend the faith.

Teenage Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament to complete initiation into the Catholic Church. It is a two year preparation for high school students which includes a service project, an attendance at Youth Day, and a retreat. Confirmation preparation is held in the local parish and not in the Catholic high school. The sacrament is administered in the local parish.

Adult Confirmation

We are empowered by the grace of God through the reception of our Sacraments. Adult Confirmation classes are offered for adults over 21 years of age.

RCIA (Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults)

This program welcomes all who are interested in becoming Catholic. Our new inquiry session answers questions about His Church and its teachings. It is a journey which fosters growth in our spiritual life and our relationship with God. The following wonderful speakers will be giving presentations on various inspiring topics: Fr. Brelsford, Deacon Tom Sabol, Fr. Peter Ngo and Fr. Donie Keohane.

RCIA for children

This program is for children age 6 to 17 years who have never been baptized, were baptized in another faith community, or if they were baptized in the Catholic faith but have not been catechized. It is also for children over the age of 9, who have not received Holy Communion.

Sunday Parish Religious Education program

We welcome all children from pre-school, kindergarten to 8th grade to be a part of this fun, spiritual and educational program that contributes to their religious upbringing. Our children need to continue their faith formation after their First Communion. In fact, we all have a lifelong journey of continuous conversion, formation and discipleship. The classes run through September to May on Sundays. Please refer to the handbook for more detailed information.
